The president the Japanese startup Interstellar Technologies said he believes there was a glitch in the main engine. Ya think?

Looks like someone let out the clutch too early in their Honda

Engineer 1“Did you finish the main engine?
Engineer 2“No, did you?”
Engineer 1“No.”
Engineer 1 and 2“Shit.”

So this thrust requirement is it in lb/ft or n/m?

that thing doesn’t look big enough to make it anywhere near orbit even if it did work (?)

Big rocket goes boom!

I've never seen a missed shift by a rocket.

Maybe avoid Takata engines next time.

I just report the news.

A story ran several years ago in Air&Space magazine. China, Japan, India are all trying to send people to space using their own countries infrastructure. Ma inly, they use their military sciences, and when it comes to their own humans safely in space foro days at a time without risking their lives , not a single one of them have contacted NASA to learn about how. So I can assume their safety checks on rocket engines, etc. are about in line with that theory. Safety? What’s that?

Joules of work? I think they use “specific impulse”

Like I know what measurement to use I’m no rocket surgeon

Maybe they’re talking to someone with more recent experience at sending humans to space, like Roscosmos?

I had an Estes model rocket do the exact same thing, only with less fire.
There’s also the failure of a Russian R-7 back in ‘02

:) sorry, (why did you not include full technical specifications!)

I just spent the day at the Johnson Space center. The Japanese should make the trip. Everything they need to know is right there on display!

Stock Honda clutches are pretty forgiving. Even my ham-footed self hasnt stalled the s2k yet *knock*

As f86sabre said, “Space is hard.” But we’ve definitely got it figured out.

This is why you don’t give control of the rocket to Jeb
